Privacy policy
This policy describes what information Edward Bramley collects when you use edwardbramley.com (the "Site"), why we collect it, who receives it, and the choices you have. We collect what running a good store requires and stop there.
What we collect
- Order information. Name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number, and the items you purchase. Payment card details travel straight to the payment processor and stop there; they do not touch our systems.
- Device information. IP address, browser and device type, time zone, and how you navigate the Site, gathered through cookies and similar technologies.
- Correspondence. Emails you send to customer care, kept with your order history so nobody has to repeat themselves.
- Marketing signup. Your email address, used for marketing only if you join the mailing list.
Why we collect it
- To fulfill orders: processing payment, arranging delivery, sending confirmations and tracking
- To provide support and handle returns, refunds, and exchanges
- To screen orders for fraud and protect the Site
- To understand how the Site performs and improve it
- To advertise, including measuring campaigns and reaching audiences likely to be interested in winter wear
- To send marketing email to subscribers, each message carrying an unsubscribe link
- To meet legal obligations, including tax and accounting
Cookies
Cookies fall into three tiers on this Site:
- Essential. Required for the bag, checkout, and security. The Site cannot function without them.
- Analytics. Help us see which pages work and which do not, via Google Analytics.
- Advertising. Set by Google and Meta to measure our campaigns and show relevant ads elsewhere.
Your browser settings can block or delete cookies at any time; blocking essential cookies will prevent checkout from working. Where the cookie banner appears, your choices there are honored.
Advertising and analytics choices
We use Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Meta advertising tools. You can limit their use of your data directly:
- Google ad personalization: adssettings.google.com
- Meta ad preferences: accountscenter.facebook.com/ads
- Industry-wide opt-out: optout.aboutads.info
- Google Analytics browser opt-out: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Who receives your information
We share information with a short list of recipients, and only what each needs:
- Shopify, which hosts the Site and processes orders
- Payment processors, which handle your card or wallet transaction
- Delivery carriers, which receive your name, address, and the contact details needed to deliver your order and send delivery updates
- Google and Meta, for the analytics and advertising described above
- Our email service provider, which sends transactional and marketing email
- Authorities, where the law requires disclosure or in response to lawful process
- A buyer or successor, if the business is ever sold or reorganized, under confidentiality terms
No one pays us for your personal information. California law, though, treats some advertising cookies as "sharing," which is why the opt-outs above and below exist.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, and specifically if you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
- Receive equal service and pricing whether or not you exercise these rights
To exercise any of them, email customercare@edwardbramley.com from the address connected to your order, and we will verify and respond within the timeframe the law sets. Our systems also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
How long we keep it
Order records are retained as long as tax and accounting law requires. Support correspondence is kept while it remains useful to your account history. Marketing addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Information no longer needed is deleted or anonymized.
Security
The Site runs on Shopify's infrastructure with encryption in transit, and access to customer information inside our operation is limited to the people who need it. We also keep what we store to a minimum.
Children
Edward Bramley sells to shoppers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and if we learn we have, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us information, email us.
Other websites
Links from the Site, including carrier tracking pages and the opt-out pages above, lead to services with their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Site, our tools, or the law change. The current version is always the one published here, and material changes will be flagged on the Site.
